Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II)

Overview

The Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) is a widely used self-report questionnaire designed to assess the severity of depression in adolescents and adults. Developed by Dr. Aaron T. Beck and colleagues, it is an updated version of the original BDI, reflecting improvements and updates based on new research and diagnostic criteria.

Purpose

Structure

The BDI-II consists of 21 multiple-choice questions, each assessing a specific symptom of depression. These symptoms align with the criteria for major depressive disorder as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
